Sean Hesler and Dan Camacho are teaming up to bring you "The Summer of LAN," a free 50
person LAN party, planned for this weekend.
"The Summer of LAN," is a game playing marathon where people come together in a neutral location to compete against each other on a fast network. Gamers at "The Summer of LAN" will be playing a variety of games: Half-Life and mods, Quake 3, Raven Shield, Unreal Tournament 2004 and mods, Warcraft 3 and Frozen Throne, and Wolf: ET. Gamers are also encouraged to bring their favorite games to play in addition to the ones listed above. Hurricane Electric is providing the space for "The Summer of LAN" and Internet access via its global OC48 network. The event will start at 5 p.m. on Friday, July 9, and will last nearly 48 hours, ending at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 11. Hurricane Electric will be providing tables and chairs for all that attend. Gamers need to bring a number of items: a virus-free computer with network card, monitor, keyboard, mouse, mouse pad, headphones (speakers not allowed), CAT5 cable (at least 25ft. in length), and power strip. Gamers are also encouraged to bring comfort items such as pillows, sleeping bags, and blankets. Space is still available for those interested in attending.
