Fremont, California - July 10, 2003 - Hurricane Electric, a leading Technical Service
Provider, announces the expansion of its Fremont Colocation Facility with the addition of
25% more
capacity in the current quarter. This expansion, coupled with those earlier this year,
results in over 100% more capacity than was available just six months ago.
In an effort to serve the growing demand for colocation space and managed data housing, Hurricane Electric has installed additional cabinets, air conditioning units, and Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPSs). Furthermore, existing GigE circuits have been upgraded to OC-48s, and new carriers are bringing in additional fiber. "We are expanding the facility in order to serve the growing demand. Even with this latest expansion, our Fremont facility continues to offer space for any future growth," said Mike Leber, president of Hurricane Electric. Hurricane Electric's Fremont facility is equipped with industry standard 12 inch- raised floors and down flow air conditioning units. The facility features 19-inch rack mountable cabinets with fully louvered individually locking doors, high-powered fans and bottom ventilation ducts. Power Distribution Units (PDUs) supply clean power from the UPSs to the cabinets, allowing each cabinet to be individually breakered. Additional facility features include a digital surveillance system, a high-security card key system, and a knowledgeable onsite staff available 24/7.
