Fremont, California - January 15, 2002 - Hurricane Electric, a leading Technical Service Provider, announced yesterday that it has completed its acquisition of Lightning Internet Services, a New York based Internet Service Provider. Hurrican Electric has acquired the rights to all of Lightning Internet Services facilities, customers, equipment and the option to assume specific contracts. "By acquiring Lightning Internet Services, we can now broaden our colocation and web hosting services to New York and surrounding areas," said Mike Leber, president of Hurricane Electric. "This acquisition will allow us to better serve our customers on the East Coast and in Europe with the addition of offices and personnel in New York," he added. Existing customers of Lightning Internet Services should not experience any interruption of services or problems associated with the acquisition. Rates for existing customers will remain the same; however, Lightning Internet Services' customers will have newer higher bandwidth options available to them, some at a reduced rate.
