Bucharest, Romania and Fremont, Calif - August 14, 2013 - Hurricane Electric, the world’s largest IPv6-native Internet backbone and NXDATA, the leading carrier-neutral data center in Romania, today announced that Hurricane Electric has established a point-of-presence at NXDATA-1, located at 8 Dimitrie Pompei Blvd, in Bucharest, Romania.

As Romania’s first carrier-neutral data center, NXDATA-1 is already positioned in one of the most significant business centers in northern Bucharest, and now its Customers will have access to Hurricane Electric’s rich global network through 100BaseT, 1GigE, 10GE and 100Gbps service.

“Hurricane Electric is thrilled to bring our global connectivity options to the customers at NXDATA-1,” said Mike Leber, President, Hurricane Electric. “All of Hurricane Electric’s backbone circuits are run over DWDM wavelengths directly on fiber, not on some other carrier's MPLS, enabling us to provide improved fault tolerance, load balancing, and congestion management for NXDATA-1’s customers.”

The new PoP at NXDATA-1 marks Hurricane Electric’s sixth global expansion this summer, and in the coming weeks, Hurricane Electric will be announcing additional locations, furthering its commitment to providing reliable and cost-effective Internet connectivity options on a global scale.

In addition to the PoP at NXDATA-1, Hurricane Electric is now also connected to the InterLAN and RoNIX Internet exchanges in Bucharest.
