Hurricane Electric Expands Network with New Point of Presence
Network expansion will allow carriers at C7 to peer directly with Hurricane Electric

Salt Lake City, Utah - November 9, 2012 - Hurricane Electric, the world’s largest IPv6-native Internet backbone and a leading colocation provider, today announced that it is continuing its network expansion with a new Point of Presence (PoP) at C7 Data Centers, located at 179 Social Hall Avenue in Salt Lake City, Utah.

By providing new and more efficient routes for C7 traffic – including next-generation IPv6 traffic – Hurricane Electric’s network connectivity will reduce latency and router hops and provide improved fault tolerance, load balancing and congestion management possibilities for all C7 network flows. The new PoP expands the global reach of Hurricane’s10GE (10 gigabit Ethernet), GigE (1 gigabit Ethernet) and100BaseT network connections.

“Hurricane Electric is committed to providing unsurpassed next-generation IP connectivity, and has plans for continued network expansion into next year,” said Mike Leber, President of Hurricane Electric. “The Salt Lake City expansion will allow customers of C7 Data Centers to benefit from Hurricane Electric’s vast global network.”

According to University of California research to be presented at the International Measurement Conference (IMC) in November 2012, Hurricane Electric is the most dominant Autonomous System (AS) in the global IPv6 transit topology. Data from the research indicate that between 2011 and 2012 no other AS was added to IPv6 routing paths as frequently and consistently as Hurricane Electric
